Purity Culture

I’ve been digging up layers & layers of damage I had buried beneath what I thought was beautiful beliefs.

The damage unfortunately is trauma, & it stems from the purity culture movement & messages.

There is no one church or one person to blame.

I was a part of perpetuating this indoctrination.

This is an American evangelical church systems issue. I am not the only one who has woke up & realized all the harm that was done in the name of Jesus & righteousness.

Here’s one thing I know for certain:

You & I both are so much more than whoever we have or hadn’t had sex with.

We are more than our bodies.

We are entire persons.

Beautiful. & made in the image of Majesty Himself.

Sexual trauma can show up in a myriad of ways, even if you have never been “sexually assaulted.”

Purity culture led many of us to store shame in our nervous system any time we felt any sort of sexual inclination.

It’s no wonder so many of our married sex lives aren’t as we envisioned.

We have a lot of healing to do. & I’m committed to encouraging + empowering you to do that.
