How To Date Yourself As A Single Person (and why it's important!)

You hear this all the time once you’ve become single: “Just date yourself!” Or someone asks a single person, “are you dating?” And she says “Myself!”

I don’t know if anyone else has sat down & dissected what this truly can be and mean to ourselves, but I sure have.

Taking time to truly date myself —whether that’s a night on the couch with some wine & pole work OR on a hike up Powell Butte OR at a restaurant or bar— has been incredibly life changing.

I started treating myself as a date: asking genuine questions, wanting to KNOW my date as a person, wanting to know my story, my joys, my pains. Setting my phone down (because texting or scrolling is sups rude on a date), dressing up at times, & exploring what it means to be Me. Exploring what I need to improve on, within a future relationship, where I’ve gone very wrong in former relationships. Investigating my non-negotiables, my desires, my dreams.

And writing it down because scientific studies show a truly healing connection between hand writing & the brain.

I wish I was taught this growing up, prior to marriage, but that means I get to teach it to my kids!

I also think it would be a beautiful thing to do with ourselves even within marriage, as an ongoing check in, to share with our spouse ♥️

I have lots more questions I suggest asking yourself on your date, but there isn’t room :) maybe ill make a free downloadable guide 😂

What are some other questions you feel are important to consider, about yourself & someone you’re dating?
